Engineer - Valves

Overview:
As part of the Commercial Valve Engineering Team, this Engineering position reporting to the Valve Engineering Manager will support the design, development and project management of hydraulic and electrically actuated valves for use on heavy duty diesel and natural gas engine applications.
Specific experience with high temperature exhaust systems, hydraulic, oil and coolant control valves is preferred.
Any electro mechanical background is also preferred.
Responsibilities:
Review customer inquiries and assess specification requirements.
Determine the feasibility of compliance and develop design concepts that meet cost goals.
Design custom products such as EGR valves, coolant valves, fuel injectors, and proportional solenoid valves for air, water, oils, and other media.
Follow the Lisk NPD (New Product Development) Stage Gate process.
Utilize FEA, CFD, FMEA and Six Sigma principles and other appropriate engineering tools to evaluate, understand/reduce risks and develop solutions.
Identify critical parameters.
Lead teams to implement cost reductions on existing products and programs.
Travel occasionally to meet with customers for VOC (Voice of the Customer), design reviews, FMEA reviews, and general technical and project support.
Attend industry trade shows and technical training as required.
Reduced travel due to Covid.
Respond to customers project information needs and provide timely responses.
Participate with cross functional team members to complete design reviews.
Complete product designs, improvements and changes based on all aspects of the customer specification, agency compliance, assembly and life cycle requirements.
Provide guidance and support to Lisk Test Engineers and Technicians to develop test requests and execute them.
Support vibration, shock, thermal, humidity, salt spray and other environmental testing.
Hands on work in the test lab is expected at times.
Qualifications:
Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering.
3-5 years related experience in product development.
Trained in problem solving/decision making methods.
Communication skills Able to present complex technical data, both orally and in writing, in concise terms.
Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Project.
Proficiency in 3D modeling complex parts in Creo Parametric preferred or other 3D modeling software.
Trained in the use of Geometric tolerancing (GD&T) preferred.
General understanding in the design of machined metal parts, forgings, castings, stampings, and injection molded components.
